about us

Write Bloody is a small press with a snappy look and quality literature.  A small band of grass roots, DIY, boot strap believers, the Write Bloody family believes that great poetry and other forms of literature changes people for the better.  As a well-respected independent publisher with connections to poetry communities across the country, Write Bloody will not only be able to reach out quickly to existing programs, but kick start new ones!

Write Now is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization dedicated to increasing the audience for poetry through performance, education, publishing and grant-making.  Write Now Poets is entirely run by firey volunteers who believe in the power of poetry to transform all kinds of things that were born to transform.

Together, they use their powers for great poetry and great programs to encourage writers across the nation. By putting books in the hands of needy programs, connecting old and new programs, and providing a space to exchange information, Shelf Life brings the community-conscious writers together.

SHELF LIFE NEEDS YOU!

WHAT ARE THE GOALS OF SHELF LIFE POETRY?

1. To reach out to publishers of poetry, prose and writing reference books and enlist them in Shelf Life’s mission. Shelf Life raises the money to pay for shipping costs, assembles the books into library-packs, then ships the packs to qualified writing programs. The icing? It saves books – all those valuable resources – from being needlessly destroyed.

2. To give inspired writers, volunteers and communities the resources and know-how they need to launch their own workshops in shelters and other venues. Shelf Life will connect experienced program managers and workshop leaders with aspiring groups to help kick start new programs and ensure their sustainability and success.

3. To connect writing programs through an online forum, so that brilliant ideas and best-practices can be shared, and to host an online national listing of these programs so that anyone can find local programs in their area to attend or volunteer for.

HOW MUCH DOES THIS THING COST?

To get one Shelf Life Library Pack of 50 books to a writing program in need, it costs us only $100! That $100 pays for shipping both ways plus small fees associated with storage and packaging.  If we raise $10,000 this year, we can get desperately needed libraries to 100 writing programs.  If we raise $50,000 this year, we can launch another 400 programs!
